Lane Closure Activity for the week of August 27 - September 2, 2009
 
BRADLEY COUNTY, Installation of an Intelligent Transportation System in the City of Cleveland:  The contractor will have daytime lane and shoulder closures between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM on various local routes in order to begin installation of intelligent transportation system. Estimated completion date is March 2010.  
 
BRADLEY COUNTY, US-11 (US-64, SR-2, South Lee Highway) resurfacing project at the Cleveland City Limits (LM 6.29) and extending to SR-40 (LM 8.89):  (Recovery Act Project)The contractor will have lane closures beginning at 7:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following morning to install pavement markings. One lane will be maintained in both directions at all times. Estimated completion date is August 2009. 
 
BRADLEY COUNTY, SR-308 (Lauderdale Memorial Highway) resurfacing project beginning at I-75 (LM 4.24) and extending to US-11 (SR-2) (LM 7.49):  (Recovery Act Project)The contractor will have lane closures beginning at 7:00 AM until 6:00 PM to perform resurfacing. Flaggers will be present to assist with traffic control. Estimated completion date is August 2009.
 
BRADLEY COUNTY, I-75 resurfacing from east of SR-60 (LM 9.75) to 4 miles south of the McMinn County Line (LM 15.35): (Recovery Act Project) The contractor will have nightly lane closures from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning to perform resurfacing activity. The only restrictions are for holidays and sporting events, and no closures will exceed three miles.  Work will take place between MM 25 and MM 31, northbound and southbound. One lane will be maintained in both directions at all times. Estimated completion date is September 2009. 
 
CANNON and DEKALB COUNTY, SR-146 resurfacing project from US-70S/SR-1 (LM 0.00) to the Dekalb County Line (LM 9.71):  (Recovery Act Project) The contractor will perform daytime paving and guardrail operations. Flaggers will be present to assist with traffic control. Estimated completion date is September 2009. 
 
COFFEE COUNTY, SR-53 bridge construction over I-24 at MM 110 and road widening project (LM 0.00 to LM 4.14):  The contractor is currently working on the bridge over I-24. There are no lane closures scheduled on I-24 at this time. Detours will be set in place on SR-53 in order to route traffic around construction activity throughout this report period. Estimated completion date is November 2010. 
 
COFFEE COUNTY, I-24 resurfacing project beginning at SR-55 and extending to the Arnold Engineering Development Center (LM 20.78):  (Recovery Act Project) The contractor will have lane closures from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning to perform resurfacing activity. One lane will be maintained in both directions at all times. Estimated completion date is September 2009. 
 
COFFEE COUNTY, SR-127 construction of a concrete Bulb-Tee beam bridge over I-24 between MM 117 and MM 121:  (Recovery Act Project)The contractor will have no lane closures on I-24. Estimated completion date is August 2010. 
 
CUMBERLAND COUNTY, SR-101 (Peavine Road) bridge and approaches over I-40 (MM 322):  All lanes of traffic are open with remaining punchlist items to be completed. Enterprise Drive is now open at its new location between Hardees and the Exxon Station on Peavine Road. Estimated completion date is August 2009. 
 
CUMBERLAND COUNTY, I-40 resurfacing from MM 306 to MM 311 (Plateau Road):  Work on this project has resumed. The contractor will have nighttime lane closures from 7:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following morning for cold planning and resurfacing activities. Estimated completion date is October 2009. 
 
CUMBERLAND COUNTY, US-127 (SR-28) resurfacing project from 0.2 miles north of Winningham Road (LM 5.11) to SR-68 (LM10.11): (Recovery Act Project)Both lanes of traffic are open with punchlist items to be completed.  Estimated completion date is September 2009.  
 
CUMBERLAND COUNTY, SR-101 (Lantana Rd.) widening project, including grading, drainage, installation of signals and paving from SR-282 (Dunbar Rd.) to SR-392 (Miller Ave.): (Recovery Act Project)The contractor will be performing clearing work and grading activities. There are no lane closures scheduled at this time. Estimated completion date is October 2011.
 
FENTRESS COUNTY, US-127 (SR-28) grading, drainage, and paving beginning at 0.2 miles north of Big Dry Creek (LM 24.57) and extending to 1.7 miles north of Jamestown (LM 26.26):  The contractor is currently performing grading operations. There are no lane closures scheduled at this time. The contractor is using a flagging operation in order to navigate construction equipment through the project. Estimated project completion date is May 2010. 
 
FENTRESS COUNTY, SR-52 construction of bridge over Big Indian Creek (LM 1.45):  Traffic is reduced to one lane in the work zone and controlled by a temporary signal system that will be in operation for the duration of the project. Estimated project completion date is October 2009. 
 
FENTRESS COUNTY, Delk Creek Road bridge replacement over Delk Creek (LM 3.22):  (Recovery Act Project) The contractor is currently constructing the new bridge. Traffic is utilizing a temporary run-around until the project is complete. Estimated completion date is October 2009. 
 
FENTRESS COUNTY, SR-325 resurfacing from the Pickett County line (LM 0.00) through Fentress County to US-127 (SR 28) in Pickett County (LM 0.37): (Recovery Act Project) The contractor will be installing construction signs and grading the shoulders to prepare for resurfacing activities. Estimated project completion date is November 2009. 
 
FRANKLIN COUNTY, US-41A (SR-15) resurfacing from north of SR-56 (LM 27.32) to the Grundy County Line (LM 30.78): (Recovery Act Project) The contractor is currently performing paving operations. Estimated completion date is September 2009. 
 
GRUNDY COUNTY, SR-56, construction of a precast structure over Firescald Creek (LM 21.30), including grading, drainage, and paving: (Recovery Act Project) The contractor is currently clearing on the project. Estimated completion date is April 2010. 
 
HAMILTON COUNTY, I-75 widening project from 1.1 miles south of Lee Highway (SR-2, US-11) to 1.2 miles north of Lee Highway (SR-2, SR-11): Each night throughout this report period, the contractor will have lane closures on I-75 Northbound and Southbound between MM 10 – MM 12 from 10:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following morning to set new barrier rail, realign existing barrier rail to accommodate paving and demolition operations. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times.
       The contractor will have lane closures on Hill Top Road, Hunter Road, Snow Hill Road, Mountain View Road, Lee Highway, and Old Lee Highway from 8:30 AM until 7:00 PM to construct new roadway and accommodate bridge demolition and gas line construction. However, the contractor must move off the roadway from 2:30 PM until 3:00 PM each day during the shift change at Miller Industries. One lane will remain open at all times.
       The temporary slip ramp to I-75 South is now open at Hilltop Drive. Drivers needing to access I-75 South from the Hunter Road area can now do so by using the newly opened ramp at hilltop Drive, avoiding the Ooltewah interchange altogether. The slip ramp has its own dedicated lane onto the interstate so drivers accessing I-75 South via ramp are not required to merge when entering the interstate. The temporary ramp will be in place for the remainder of the project.
       The bridge on Old Lee highway is now open to traffic. Later in the year the contractor will place a final layer of asphalt on the roadway. The truck station located at the end of the project on I-75 South is now closed and will remain closed for the duration of the project.
       The contractor is anticipating a shift of I-75 southbound traffic from its present track onto the new southbound lanes during the 1st week in September.
Estimated completion date is December 2010. 
 
HAMILTON COUNTY, US-27 (I-124) repair of 15 bridges from I-24 (MM 0) to the Olgiati Bridge (MM 2.0):  The northbound lanes are all open to traffic. Throughout this report period the contractor will have nightly lane closures on US-27 South from 7:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following morning for bridge deck repairs. One lane will be maintained at all times during this nightly work. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained on US-27 South daily from 6:00 AM until 7:00 PM. The entrance ramp from west MLK Blvd. onto US-27 (I-124) South is expected to reopen to traffic during this report period. Estimated completion date is September 2009. 
 
HAMILTON COUNTY, I-75 / I-24 sign installation project at various locations in the vicinity of the 1-24 / I-75 Split, including paving: 
       Thursday, August 27 through Saturday August 29 from 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM each day there will be a right lane closure on I-75 North just south of Scruggs Road in Georgia near Tennessee State Line in order to drill and pour overhead sign footing. Two lanes will remain open. 
       Saturday August 29 from 9:00 PM until Sunday August 30 at 6:00 AM there will be two left lane closures on I-75 South just south of Scruggs Road in Georgia near Tennessee State Line in order to erect overhead sign structure. One lane will remain open with the exception of a 15 minute pacing of traffic, which will occur after 2:00 AM.
       Saturday August 29 from 9:00 PM until Sunday August 30 at 6:00 AM there will be an alternating one lane closure on I-75 North just south of Scruggs Road in Georgia near Tennessee State Line in order to erect overhead sign structure. Two lanes will remain open with the exception of a 15 minute pacing of traffic, which will occur after 2:00 AM.
Estimated completion date is August 2009. 
 
HAMILTON COUNTY, SR-27 (Rossville Blvd) resurfacing project from SR-2 (LM 5.02) to I-24 (LM 5.42): The contractor will have nighttime lane closures from 7:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following morning on SR-27 north and south between LM 5.02 and LM 5.42 to mill and repair concrete. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. The contractor will also have lane closures Friday night from 6:00 PM until Monday morning at 6:00 AM for concrete repairs. Estimated completion date is September 2009. 
 
HAMILTON COUNTY, Jersey Pike and Shallowford Road bridge repair project on bridges over SR-153 at Jersey Pike (LM 0.74) and Shallowford Road (LM 5.5):  Throughout this report period the contractor will have nighttime Eastbound and Westbound lane closures on the Shallowford Road bridges over SR-153 from 7:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following morning for bridge repair. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times.
       The contractor will also have a nighttime lane closure with flagging operations on the Jersey Pike Bridge over SR-153 from 7:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following morning for bridge repair. One lane will be maintained.
       If needed, the contractor will close the Jersey Pike Bridge Monday through Friday after 9:00 PM and re-open the following morning. Traffic will be detoured.
       The contractor will also have possible nighttime lane closures on SR-153 North and South between MM 2.0 and MM 3.6 from 7:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following morning. Two lanes of traffic must be maintained until after 9:00 PM. If needed, SR-153 can be reduced to one lane after 9:00 PM. These closures are to allow the contractor access to the underside of the Shallowford Road and Jersey Pike Bridges. 
Estimated completion date is September 2009. 
 
HAMILTON COUNTY, US-64 (SR-2, East 23rd St.) resurfacing (ultra-thin overlay) from Rossville Blvd. (LM 8.59) to Dodds Ave. (LM 10.10); also US-64 (SR-2, Lee Hwy.) from Airport Rd. (LM 15.84 to south of Shallowford Rd. (LM 18.30) Project is complete. Contactor is working on punch list items and will have lane closures as needed. Estimated completion date is August 2009.  
 
HAMILTON COUNTY, US-27 (SR-29) resurfacing from Dayton Pike (LM 20.39) to Old Dayton Pike (LM 25.77): (Recovery Act Project)The contractor will have daytime lane and shoulder closures between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM to perform cold planing and resurfacing in both the north and south inside lanes.  One lane will be maintained in each direction at all times. Estimated completion date is September 2009.  
 
HAMILTON, BRADLEY, and MARION COUNTIES, I-75 / I-24 / SR-153 / SR-29 construction of an intelligent transportation system on various interstate and state routes in and near Chattanooga:  The contractor will implement shoulder closures throughout this report period within the project area on weekdays between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM and anytime on the weekend as part of the ITS construction. They will also implement nighttime lane closures between the hours of 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM the following morning to perform installation of structure conduit raceways and DMS foundations at these locations:
       Thursday, August 27 and Friday, August 28 between the hours of 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM the following morning:
       I-24 EB & WB at MM 183.5 – Double Left lane closure.  One lane is to remain open.
       I-75 NB & SB at MM 2.0 – Double Left lane closure.  Two lanes are to remain open.
       SR 27 SB at MM 3.4 – Left lane closure on the on ramp from Dayton Blvd. One lane is to remain open. Norfolk flagger will be on site.
       Saturday, August 29 between the hours of 10:00 PM and 10:00 AM the following morning:
       I-75 NB & SB at MM 2.0 – Left lane closure.  Three lanes are to remain open.
       Sunday, August 30 between the hours of 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM the following morning:
       I-75 NB & SB at MM 2.0 – Left lane closure.  Three lanes are to remain open.
       Monday, August 31 through Wednesday, September 2 between the hours of 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM the following morning:
       I-75 NB & SB at MM 2.0 – Left lane closure.  Three lanes are to remain open.
       SR 153 SB at MM 7.7 – Right Lane closure.  One lane is to remain open.  Norfolk flagger will be on site.
       SR 27 SB at MM 7.3 – Right lane closure.  One lane is to remain open.  Flagging will be on Reads lake Rd.
        I-75 NB at MM 11.0 – Right lane closure.  One lane is to remain open (this is within the Ooltewah construction site).
Estimated completion date is December 2010. 
 
LINCOLN and FRANKLIN COUNTIES, US-64 grading, drainage, construction of concrete box bridges, and paving beginning 0.25 miles east of SR-275 (Flintville Road) and extending 0.152 miles east of the Lincoln County / Franklin County Line:  The contractor will have lane shifts around construction area. Estimated completion date is 2010.
 
MARION COUNTY, SR-156 resurfacing from the Franklin State Forest entrance (LM 3.03) to Orme Mountain Rd. (LM 9.44): (Recovery Act Project) The contractor is currently placing shoulder stone and installing pavement markings. Estimated completion date is September 2009. 
 
McMINN COUNTY, US-11 (SR-2 / Congress Parkway) intersection improvement at Rocky Mount Road:  The contractor will implement full-time inside lane closures on Congress Parkway north and south throughout the project to perform work in the median. Further nighttime and weekend closures on Congress Parkway will also be in effect. The southbound shoulder of Congress Parkway will be closed on Thursday, Tuesday, and Wednesday beginning each evening at 7:00 PM and ending at 6:00 AM the following morning and from Friday at 7:00 PM until Monday at 6:00 AM to install pipe. Rocky Mount Road will remain open but flaggers will be present on weekdays between the hours of 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM for work on the west side. Estimated completion date is September 2009. 
 
McMINN COUNTY, US-11 (SR-2) resurfacing project from north of Niota (LM 21.93 to Monroe County Line (LM 24.38): (Recovery Act Project) The contractor will have lane closures beginning at 7:00 AM until 6:00 PM to perform resurfacing. Flaggers will be present to assist with traffic control. Estimated completion date is September 2009. 
 
MEIGS COUNTY, Lamontville Road construction of a box bridge over Price Creek (LM 4.39) including grading, drainage and paving: (Recovery Act Project)The road over this bridge will be closed down and traffic detoured for the duration of this project. Detour signs are posted to re-direct traffic around the construction area. Estimated completion date is May 2010. 
 
OVERTON COUNTY, SR-111 resurfacing from south of Twin Oaks Rd. (LM 15.95) to north of Big Springs Rd. (LM 20.07):  The contractor is currently performing guardrail operations. Traffic is reduced to one lane in the work zone, and flaggers will be in place to assist with traffic control.  Estimated completion date is August 2009.  
 
OVERTON COUNTY, SR-111 State Industrial Access serving Hydroserre at Oak Hill Road (LM 1.80): The contractor is constructing the new roadway. The contractor will be constructing a new turn lane at the intersection of SR 111 and Oak Hill Road. Traffic will be reduced to one lane during this work. Estimated project completion date is September 2009. 
 
OVERTON COUNTY, SR-294 resurfacing from SR-111 (LM 0.58) to Oakley-Allons Rd. (LM 6.77): (Recovery Act Project) Traffic will be reduced to one lane in the work zone during paving operations, and flaggers will be in place to assist with traffic control.  Estimated completion date is September 2009. 
 
PICKETT COUNTY, SR-325 resurfacing from west of Hill Rd. (LM 8.08) to the Fentress County Line (LM 12.61): (Recovery Act Project) The contractor will be installing construction signs and grading the shoulders to prepare for resurfacing activities. Estimated project completion date is November 2009. 
 
POLK COUNTY, US-64 (SR-40) grading, drainage, and paving beginning east of US-411 (SR-33) and extending to west of the Ocoee River:  The contractor has shifted traffic to Phase Two of the project. One lane of traffic in each direction is open from the bridge over US-411 (SR-33) to the Ocoee River. The speed limit has been changed in this construction zone to 35 MPH with flaggers to assist with traffic control. Estimated completion date is September 2010. 
 
POLK COUNTY, US-411 (SR-33) grading, drainage, construction of three bridges, and paving beginning 0.23 miles south of Lowery Road and extending to 0.32 miles south of Welcome Valley Road:  The contractor is excavating, installing drainage structures, and constructing a bridge over the Ocoee River. Estimated completion date is October 2011. 
 
POLK COUNTY, US-411 (SR-33) grading, drainage, construction of three concrete Bulb-Tee beam bridges, and paving beginning at the Benton City Limits and extending to SR-30:  (Recovery Act Project) The contractor is currently clearing and installing construction signs. Flaggers will be present in the work zone. Estimated completion date is September 2011. 
 
PUTNAM COUNTY, I-40 resurfacing project from MM 267.25 to MM 274:  (Recovery Act Project) The contractor will have lane closures for paving activity between 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM. One lane will be maintained in both directions at all times. Estimated project completion date is September 2009. 
 
PUTNAM COUNTY, I-40 cable guardrail project from MM 275 to MM 278: The contractor will have lane closures to install cable guardrail  between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM. One lane will be maintained in both directions at all times. Estimated project completion date is October 2009. 
 
RHEA COUNTY, SR-29 Widening Project from SR-68 Junction to Spring City North City Limits: Additional signal lights (dedicated left turn) and pedestrian cross walk signals have been installed at Piccadilly Avenue and at Jackson Avenue. The speed limit throughout the job is posted at 40 MPH. Motorists should be alert for short intermittent lane closures / stoppages which may occur on SR-29 (US-27) due to work within close proximity of the roadway. Tallent Lane has been re-opened and Kemmer Road has been closed for construction of a box bridge. Please note that some lane assignments on Piccadilly Avenue and on Jackson Avenue have changed. Drivers are urged to be attentive and follow the pavement markings and signs. Also, please pay special attention to the electronic turn restriction signs, which are activated by a train passing through town. Estimated completion date is April 2011. 
 
RHEA COUNTY, SR-29 resurfacing project from south of Vann’s Creek Rd./Hoyal Rd. (LM 23.42) to south of Macedonia Rd. (LM 28.16)(Recovery Act Project) The contractor will have lane closures on SR-29 North and South for rumble striping and pavement marking activities between the hours of 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Estimated completion date is September 2009.  
 
VAN BUREN COUNTY, US-70S (SR-1) resurfacing project from the  Warren County Line (LM 0.06) the White County Line (LM 2.79)(Recovery Act Project) The contractor will have lane closures on US-70S East and West for rumble striping and pavement marking activities between the hours of 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Estimated completion date is September 2009. 
 
WARREN COUNTY, US-70S (SR-1) relocation of roadway from Centertown to Spring Valley Road including construction of two concrete Bulb-Tee beam bridges, grading, drainage, and some paving:  (Recovery Act Project) Grading operation on this project is active. All lanes and side roads are open. Estimated completion date is August 2011. 
 
WARREN COUNTY, US-70S (SR-1) resurfacing project from Victor J. Young Rd. (LM 23.23) to the Van Buren County Line (LM 24.38)(Recovery Act Project) The contractor will have lane closures on US-70S East and West for rumble striping and pavement marking activities between the hours of 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Estimated completion date is September 2009. 
 
WHITE and PUTNAM COUNTIES, SR-111 micro-surface project beginning at the underpass of SR-136 (LM 16.90) to north of Jefferson Avenue (LM 2.05) in Putnam County:  The contractor will have lane closures on SR-111 North and South for pavement marking activities between the hours of 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Estimated completion date is August 2009. 
 
WHITE COUNTY, US-70S (SR-1) resurfacing project from the Van Buren County Line (LM 0.10) to Cole Rd. (LM 1.89)(Recovery Act Project) The contractor will have lane closures on US-70S East and West for rumble striping and pavement marking activities between the hours of 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Estimated completion date is September 2009. 
 
Motorists are encouraged to use caution and obey reduced speed limits in all TDOT work zones, regardless of lane closure activity.
