27 Safety and Health Seminars Offered throughout the State

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration has 27 upcoming training seminars at several locations throughout the state. The courses will be offered through Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry, University of Tennessee, Motlow State Community College, Northeast State Community College, Southwest Tennessee Community College, Mississippi State University and Walters State Community College.

"Training and education are crucial in preventing workplace safety and health hazards,” said Sandra Bennett, TOSHA Training Manager. “TOSHA has excellent trainers who know the requirements of the TOSHA standards and regulations and can help you apply them in your facility.”

The seminars are open to anyone who is interested in attending. Courses range from one-half of a day to four days and pricing is from $75.00 to $525.00. There are several different classes being offered including TOSHA 101, 30-Hour General Industry, OSHA 300 Recordkeeping and Combustible Dust. The courses will be taught by TOSHA safety and health professionals who will help train employers/employees to avoid potential workplace hazards.

Since the year 2000 TOSHA has nearly doubled their training numbers. In 2008, TOSHA had 486 training sessions with more than 12,500 attendees.

“Since TOSHA has increased their training numbers we have seen a decrease in workplace injuries,” said Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley. “Our goal is to keep employers and employees safe from as many workplace safety and health hazards as possible.”
