Governor Bredesen Issues Writ to Fill State Senate Seat, District 31
NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen today announced he has issued a Writ of Election to fill the vacancy in the Office of State Senate for District 31. The vacancy was created upon the resignation of State Senator Paul Stanley.
The Writ of Election directs the Shelby County Election Commission to hold Democratic and Republican primary elections to fill the vacancy in the Office of State Senate, District 31, on Thursday, October 15, 2009. The general election will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2009.
The Writ of Election is issued in accordance with Article II, Section 15, of the Constitution of the State of Tennessee and Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 2-14-202.
