NASHVILLE – Economic recovery will be the emphasis of the 22nd Annual Tennessee Labor-Management Conference to be held August 12-14 at the Sheraton Music City in Nashville, Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley announced today.

“With businesses struggling in this economy, sharing best practices is one of the most critical agenda items on their list today,” said Labor Commissioner James Neeley. “It’s more important than ever to recognize industry innovators and provide a forum to exhibit the latest developments and best practices.”

The Conference will open today at 1:00 p.m. with a keynote address from Tennessee Department of Finance & Administration Commissioner Dave Goetz. Thursday’s keynote address at 1:30 will be given by Wilma B. Liebman, Chairman of the National Labor Relations Board, who was recently appointed by President Obama.

Conference workshops include From Graduation to Work (Tennessee Energy Industry and Construction Consortium), the Green Economy, Multiple Generations at Work, Trade Adjustment Assistance, Workers’ Compensation, and Mediation. Awards and Scholarships will be presented at the closing session on Friday morning.

The Tennessee Center for Labor-Management Relations, associated with Middle Tennessee State University, represents a consortium of the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development, the University of Tennessee system, and the Tennessee Board of Regents universities.
