TDOT Completes First Phase of Hillsboro Road Improvements

Monday, July 27, 2009 | 09:23am
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews have completed the first phase of the Hillsboro Road Improvement Project ahead of schedule.  Originally planned to take place over four separate weekends, workers were able to complete excavation and paving work between Sharondale Drive and Crestmoor Road in half the originally estimated time, finishing after just two weekend closures. The early completion of this phase eliminates the need for future all-weekend lane closures through this area.

When totally completed, the Hillsboro Road Improvement Project will add a continuous center turn lane along Hillsboro Road between Sharondale Drive and Crestmoor Road. The center turn lane addition is part of an overall resurfacing project on Hillsboro Road that will stretch from Interstate 440 to Harding Place.  Paving activities are scheduled to begin in early August, and will be performed only during evening and overnight hours.  The new section of center turn lane will be added once the new layer of asphalt is applied.  The turn lane will adjoin the center turn lanes that already exist at the Woodmont Lane and Crestmoor Road intersections.

The Hillsboro Road Improvement Project is expected to be completed by the end of September. The $1.8 million project t is being constructed by HMA Contractors, LLC of Mt. Juliet.
