Weekend Lane Closures Continue on Hillsboro Road Improvement Project

Thursday, July 23, 2009 | 08:51am
NASHVILLE – Weekend lane closures along a busy section of Hillsboro Road in Green Hills will continue this weekend. The closures are part of a project to improve traffic flow along Hillsboro Road between Sharondale Drive and Crestmoor Road. Beginning at 9:00 p.m. Friday, July 24, Hillsboro Road Northbound will be reduced to one lane from Crestmoor Road to Sharondale Drive.  The lane closure will be in effect until no later than 5:00 a.m. Monday, July 27.

During this period, crews will perform excavation and paving activities on the outside lane and shoulder of Hillsboro Road Northbound. The work is part of a project to add a center turn lane to Hillsboro Road from Sharondale Drive to Crestmoor Road. Hillsboro Road will also be resurfaced from Interstate 440 to Harding Place. The entire project is expected to be complete by the end of September 2009.

TDOT will use its overhead and portable message boards on Hillsboro Road and surrounding interstates to alert motorists of the lane closures. Drivers should expect delays and should seek an alternate route around this work zone if possible.
