Special Meeting of TWRC Adjusts Bear Training Dates in North Cherokee WMA

NASHVILLE --- In a special called meeting held via conference call, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission amended bear dog training season in the North Cherokee Wildlife Management Area.
 
The bear training season in the area will now be held from Sept. 8-20. The dates replace the original starting date for training which was Aug 29. All other regulations including that no bears may be harvested, no weapons may be possessed, night-time training is allowed, and no training may be conducted in bear reserves remains the same.
 
The proclamation was the only agenda item discussed by the TWRC. The call originated from the main conference room of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency in Nashville.
 
The TWRC will return to its meeting schedule in August. The TWRC next meeting will be held August 20-21 at Paris Landing State Park. The meetings days will be a Thursday and Friday, a change from the regular Wednesday-Thursday schedule.
