PETROS - The last inmates to be housed at the Brushy Mountain Correctional Complex have been moved from the historic prison to their new location in Morgan County.  The successful transition occurred at 1:00 p.m. (EDT) today, without incident, as the final inmates were taken by bus to the Morgan County Correctional Complex in Wartburg.

"I want to commend Warden Jim Worthington, Warden David Mills and their respective staffs for their work in this smooth transfer of inmates," said Commissioner George M. Little.  "With the Morgan County Correctional Complex, Tennessee clearly has an asset that will hopefully serve us as well in the next century as Brushy Mountain has over the last century."

An official closing ceremony will be held next week at Brushy Mountain.  The media is invited to attend.
