Middle Tennessee Truss Receives Governor's Safety Award

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley announced that Middle Tennessee Truss in Cookeville was chosen to receive the Governor’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety.

 

"Middle Tennessee Truss has demonstrated strong commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace," said John Winkler, Administrator of the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration, who presented the Governor’s Award of Excellence to the company today at the company’s facility located at 3800 Buffalo Valley Road in Cookeville. “The evaluation criteria for this award are challenging, and this company has worked extremely hard to meet and exceed the standards the award requires.”

 

The Governor’s Safety Award honors Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work or restrict normal job activities. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.

 

Middle Tennessee Truss employs 17 people in the manufacturing of wooden roof trusses. The facility has qualified for the Governor’s Award by working more than 59,000 hours without a lost time or restricted duty incident. The site’s injury-free record dates back to January 2007.
