NASHVILLE --- The amendment to the sport fishing proclamation that changes the smallmouth bass regulation on Boone and Watauga reservoirs will become effective on April 24, 2009, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has announced.

At its March meeting, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission voted to pass the amendment that reduces the minimum size limit for smallmouth bass from 18 to 15 inches in length. The amendment reduced the smallmouth size limit to 15 inches on Boone and Watauga reservoirs only. Until April 24, the 18 inch minimum size limit will apply on those reservoirs.

The new regulation becomes effective 30 days after it was filed with the Tennessee Secretary of State office.

The 2009-10 Tennessee hunting and fishing licenses are available at any TWRA regional office, licensing agent, and on the TWRA Web site, www.tnwildlife.org.
