TN Board of Medical Examiners Suspends License of Sevierville Physician

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Health announces that the Board of Medical Examiners has summarily suspended the license of Rodney G. Carter, MD, of Sevierville. The suspension of Carter’s license became effective March 20, 2009. As a result of the suspension, Carter is immediately prohibited from practicing medicine in the state.

 Carter’s license was suspended for the following:

  • Unprofessional conduct in violation of applicable laws relative to the practice of medicine.
  • Engaging in negligence in the course of his practice.
  • Conduct that is detrimental to the health, safety and welfare of the public.
 
Carter has the opportunity to appear at an informal hearing on this matter before the Board of Medical Examiners, scheduled for March 25, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. CDT. At that hearing, the Board has the discretion to order the summary suspension lifted or revoked, or suspend or otherwise discipline Carter’s license to practice medicine in Tennessee.
 
Carter was originally licensed to practice medicine in Tennessee in 1998.
