NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will once again conduct its winter trout release program with more than 82,000 rainbow trout on schedule to be stocked into Tennessee waters from December through March.

The program provides numerous close to home trout fishing opportunities for Middle and West Tennessee anglers during the winter months. These fisheries also provide a great opportunity to introduce children or first-time anglers to fishing.

“The program provides the opportunity for anglers to harvest rainbow trout, said Jason Henegar, TWRA Fisheries Management Division “The program is very popular and we encourage all anglers who may not have the opportunity to give it a try this winter.”

The trout will average about 10 inches in length. The daily creel limit is seven, but there is no size limit. A statewide fishing license and an annual trout stamp are required.

TWRA has announced a list of locations scheduled to receive stocking in this year’s program. TWRA has added the West Fork Stones River, Lafayette City Park and Paris City Park as new locations to this winter’s stocking sites.

Please note that the dates and locations are subject to change. Updates can be found on TWRA’s Web site at www.tnwildlife.org under the For Anglers section.
