Bredesen Issues Writ to Fill State House Seat, District 83

NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen today announced he has issued a Writ of Election to fill the vacancy in the Office of State Representative for District 83. The vacancy was created upon the resignation of State Representative Brian Kelsey.
 
The Writ of Election directs the Shelby County Election Commission to hold Democratic and Republican primary elections to fill the vacancy in the Office of State Representative, District 83, on Tuesday, December 1, 2009. The general election will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010.
 
The Writ of Election is issued in accordance with Article II, Section 15, of the Constitution of the State of Tennessee and Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 2-14-202.
