NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley announced that ITW Shippers Products in Mt. Pleasant was chosen to receive the Governor’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety.

“ITW has demonstrated strong commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace,” said Jim Flanagan, Voluntary Protection Program Manager for the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration, who presented the Governor’s Award of Excellence to the company today at the company’s facility located at 1203 North Main Street in Mt. Pleasant. “The evaluation criteria for this award are challenging, and this company has worked extremely hard to meet and exceed the standards the award requires.”

The Governor’s Award honors Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work or restrict normal job activities. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.

ITW Shippers Products employs 95 people in the manufacture of dunnage air bags and other load securement products for the transportation industry. The facility has qualified for the Governor’s Award by working over 285,000 hours without a lost time or restricted duty injury. The accident free record dates back to September 2006.
