Governor Awards Training Grant to M-TEK, Inc.

NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen and Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley have awarded $50,000 to M-TEK Inc. in Manchester, Tenn. The grant will pay for training in process control, sonic welding, assembly and quality control for 62 employees.  M-TEK projects the training will create new jobs and increase the profitability of the company.

“I am pleased these funds will be used for technical training in Coffee County,” said Governor Bredesen.  “These grants provide training employees need to remain competitive and help our state move forward with providing skilled workers and high paying jobs.”

“I am proud to award this grant money to help train workers in Coffee County,” said Commissioner Neeley.  “Since July 1, 2007, the Workforce Development Division has obligated $1.5 million to Tennessee companies in Incumbent Worker projects, training more than 5,000 workers.”

“I commend the Governor and Commissioner for helping Tennessee companies with training grants,” said Senator Steve Roller.  “The Incumbent Worker grants are an integral part of the Governor’s special emphasis on job development in our state.”

“The Incumbent Worker grants keep companies competitive and profitable,” said Representative Judd Matheny.  “I applaud the Governor for awarding this grant to this Coffee County employer and helping to improve our economy.”
