Construction will complete improvements to route in Lincoln County

Nashville, Tenn. - Tennessee Department of Transportation Commissioner Gerald Nicely joined state and local officials in Lincoln County today to break ground on a new US 64 (SR 15) widening project.  The project is six miles in length and stretches from SR 275 in Lincoln County to just east of the Franklin County line.  Once finished, the project will complete improvements to this strategic highway corridor across Lincoln County.

“US 64 is a major east-west route across southern sections of Tennessee,” said Nicely. “This project, along with the two others already under construction in Lincoln County, will improve safety and capacity and provide residents in this area with increased access to the entire region.”

Representative George Fraley, Senator Steve Roller, Representative Curt Cobb, and Senator Bill Ketron, who were instrumental in the development of this project, joined Commissioner Nicely at today’s groundbreaking.

“Improvements to this route have long been a priority of mine,” said Representative Fraley. “We look forward to the completion of the US 64 projects and the economic opportunities it will provide this area.”

“This is an exciting day for Lincoln County,” added Senator Roller. “I thank TDOT for making this important investment in our community.”

There are currently three active construction projects along US 64 in Lincoln County, accounting for more than 16 miles of improvements and totaling more than $89 million.

Representative Cobb said, “The widening of this corridor is a major undertaking for everyone involved. We thank the residents along this route for their patience and cooperation.”

Senator Ketron added, “This is an important project for both Lincoln and Franklin counties.  I look forward to driving on this new and improved facility in the future.”
