Young Sportsman Deer Hunt Scheduled October 25 for Cheatham WMA

NASHVILLE - Participants and volunteers are needed for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Young Sportsman’s Deer Hunt to be held Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Cheatham Wildlife Management Area.

The hunt is for youth between the ages of 6-16 will be conducted on the more than 20,000 acres of prime whitetail deer habitat at Cheatham WMA. Participants ages 10-16 must be hunter education certified and have the appropriate licenses and or permits.

In addition, volunteers ages 21 and older who wish to mentor a youth are needed to share in the experience. This will be the first firearm hunt of the season on the Cheatham WMA, making it a golden opportunity for young sportsmen to harvest a deer.

There will be a cookout and camping for volunteers, participants and other interested persons on Friday, Oct. 24. Lunch will be provided on Saturday. Door prizes will also be given away to any young sportsman who attends.
