Fall Creek Falls Hosts Craft Workshop Weekend February 1-2

Nashville, Tenn. – Fall Creek Falls State Park will host a craft workshop weekend February 1-2. These workshops are designed to teach new crafting techniques to beginners as well as to refine existing skills for experienced crafters.

Courses include basket making, woodcarving, wood burning and watercolor painting. Orientation for each workshop will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, and workshops will be offered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

In the basket-making session, participants will learn the fundamental techniques of basket weaving and will make medium-size egg baskets during the class. The workshop is limited to nine participants.

Participants in the woodcarving workshop will receive instruction on carving caricature faces and primitive birds. The class is limited to 12 participants.

In the wood-burning course, participants will learn to create detailed works of art through the use of wood burners. This session is limited to six participants.

Participants in the watercolor painting class will learn basic to intermediate painting techniques, including painting flowers. Each student is expected to complete two to three small paintings during the workshop. This class is limited to 10 participants.

No prior experience is necessary for individuals to register for any of the craft workshops. Cost is $35 per workshop, and reservations and $20 deposits are required for each class.

Fall Creek Falls Inn will offer special room packages when craft workshops are held. Cost is $134.28 for a two-night stay in a double-occupancy room. This price also includes breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Queen/king accommodations are available for $152.96.

Fall Creek Falls State Park is a 20,000-acre paradise in the eastern Cumberland Plateau.
