Tennessee Honors Program Names 2007 Honors Class

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Education recently honored high school juniors who have established outstanding academic records and earned top scores in a research project contest. Students are invited to compete for the commendation each year as part of the Tennessee Honors Program. To be eligible, students must have earned a 3.4 GPA and complete a research project in the arts, language arts, science, social studies, math or career technical education (CTE).

“Each year this is an opportunity to celebrate students with exceptional academic drive and enthusiasm for learning,” Education Commissioner Lana Seivers said. “We hope the recognition encourages them to continue striving for excellence in education.”

Students were honored for their accomplishments at a ceremony with Commissioner Seivers at the Capitol. Each student received a certificate of recognition by the Governor and an Apple IPod.
