February 2007 Unemployment Figures - County

NASHVILLE – Tennessee’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for February 2007 was released last week at 4.9 percent, 0.1 percent higher than the January rate of 4.8 percent. The United States unemployment rate for the month of February was 4.5 percent.

 

 

County non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rates for February 2007, released today, show that 28 counties increased, 56 counties decreased and 11 remain unchanged.

Williamson County registered the state’s lowest county unemployment rate at 3.4 percent, unchanged from 3.4 percent in January. Pickett County was the states highest at 12.0 percent, up from 11.4 in January, followed by Jackson County at 9.3 percent, up from 8.6 in January.

Knox County has the state’s lowest major metropolitan rate at 3.9 percent, which remained unchanged from 3.9 percent in January. Davidson County is 4.2 percent, up from 4.1 in January. Hamilton County is at 4.1 percent, down from 4.4 in January, and Shelby County is 5.6 percent, down from the January rate of 5.7.
