Governor Awards Training Grant to Workforce Solutions

NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen and Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley have awarded $250,000 to Workforce Solutions for support services for dislocated workers in Coffee County. 

The training grant will help dislocated workers with support services during training. The money can go to transportation expenses, minor medical service payments such as eye-glasses or hearing aids or limited car repair payments during training.

“I am pleased to award this grant to Workforce Solutions for workers in Coffee County who face barriers to employment involving issues such as child care and transportation,” said Governor Bredesen.  “These funds will help respond to the needs of the dislocated workers who will not be able to complete their training without receiving support services.”

“I am proud to award this grant money to Workforce Solutions,” said Commissioner Neeley.  “Sometimes it is difficult for individuals to receive training if they have obstacles that won’t allow them the time or transportation to get to a classroom.  This money will go a long way in helping them receive the training they need to be a more productive worker.”

“I commend Governor Bredesen and Commissioner Neeley for awarding this grant to Workforce Solutions and Coffee County,” said Senator Jerry Cooper.

“This grant is very beneficial to dislocated workers in Coffee County who may have barriers to training,” said Representative George Fraley.

The support services will be provided to all the dislocated workers who need them through the Tennessee Career Center in Tullahoma.
