NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Department of Correction has been named one of the most vegetarian-friendly state prison systems in the country by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. PETA presented a certificate to Commissioner George Little recognizing the TDOC for providing inmates with delicious and health vegetarian options.

"In a system that encourages inmates to respect themselves, the process carries over to respecting their bodies," said Commissioner Little. PETA and its more than 1.8 million members and supporters ranked Tennessee eighth on the survey of state prison food service programs.
