NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Department of Correction Commissioner George Little has named veteran state employee Jerry Lester as Director of the Internal Affairs Division.  Lester had served as interim director since November, 2006.

He previously held the position of TDOC special agent in charge of the East Tennessee Office.  A seasoned investigator, Lester worked as an institutional IA investigator subsequent to his promotions through the security ranks as correctional officer, corporal and sergeant at Brushy Mountain Correctional Complex.

“Jerry has served admirably as interim director and I am pleased to make this announcement,” said Commissioner Little.  Director Lester is a 20-year TDOC veteran.

“I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to lead a group of highly trained and dedicated agents and staff within the IA division,” said Lester.  “It is with great honor that I accept the opportunity to serve the people of Tennessee.”

Lester is a Morgan County native and graduate of Wartburg Central High School.  He and his wife Regina are the proud parents of two children.  His appointment becomes effective immediately.
