TDOC Captures Escapees - October 30, 2007

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Department of Correction’s Internal Affairs division has captured several former inmates who escaped from TDOC custody.  They were arrested as part of an ongoing investigation called “Operational Clean Sweep.”  TDOC agents tracked down six escapees, several of whom escaped from prison more than 25 years ago.  Their crimes include drug charges, grand larceny and forgery.

 

 

They were taken to the Charles Bass Correctional Complex and the Tennessee Prison for Women in Nashville.

Helen Lawler, age 71, escaped on 12-13-81 from Memphis Community Service Center, captured in Covington, TN.

Billy Lovingood, age 51, escaped on 2-06-84 from Knoxville Community Service Center, captured in Sweetwater, TN.

James McGaha, age 55, escaped on 9-23-74 from Middle Tennessee Reception Center, captured in Cleveland, TN.

Bramlett Walker, age 64, escaped on 8-23-80 from Memphis Community Service Center, captured in Memphis, TN.

Larry Payne, age 60, escaped on 7-21-81 from Nashville Community Service Center, captured in Texas.

Guy Kennison, age 51, escaped on 7-27-80, failed to return from furlough to Metro Nashville Pre-Release Center, captured in South Carolina
