Eugene H. Neubert has been appointed the new assistant commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Health’s Bureau of Administrative Services. “Eugene has proven himself a leader in nearly a decade of service to state government in Tennessee, and I am delighted he is bringing this experience and dedication to the Department of Health,” said Health Commissioner Susan R. Cooper, MSN, RN.

As assistant commissioner, Neubert will provide direction, coordination and review of administrative services by each of the six units of the Bureau of Administrative Services. Those units are contract review, facilities management and capital projects, financial management, fiscal services, procurement and property and support services.

All positions within the Bureau of Administrative Services are located in Nashville and interact daily with other staff of the Department of Health, as well as with other state, federal and local government offices and the general public.

“I am happy to be here and excited about this opportunity to join Commissioner Cooper’s team,” said Neubert. “I look forward to working with the Bureau in its provision of services to the Department of Health and the citizens of Tennessee.”

Neubert comes to the Department of Health from the Department of Commerce and Insurance, where he served as assistant commissioner for administration. He has worked in various capacities within Tennessee state government for the last nine years. Neubert received his Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee Technological University, and attended the Tennessee Government Executive Institute at the University of Tennessee in 2003.
