NASHVILLE, Tenn. –  Popular TV comedian, George “Goober” Lindsey, talented musicians, Tennessee craftsmen and the World’s Greatest Beef Stew Cook-Off will draw thousands to the Tennessee Agricultural Museum for the 15th Music & Molasses Festival, Oct. 20-21.

“George Lindsey knows the importance of agriculture and is a supporter of our ag museum fundraiser.  He’ll be signing autographs Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. near the Mayberry Squad Car,” says Anne Dale, director of the museum.

The festival will take place in Nashville at Ellington Agricultural Center on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Admission is $5 with children four and under free.

“Molasses making, free wagon rides, sheep herding, music everywhere and great food make this a favorite of mine,” says Lindsey.

Lots of activities for children, farm animals and an 1860 living history camp guarantee a weekend of family fun.

Handmade items from furniture to fiddles can be purchased along with flintlock rifles and cashmere shawls.   Specialty items from The Chocolate Sunflower, baked goods from Norton Family Farm, hard to find jellies like muscadine, scuppernong and plum from Two Brothers Farm and fried apple pies from Red Chief Orchard will tempt those looking for tasty take-home treats.  Great country cooking along with BBQ, grilled chicken, fried fish, white beans and cornbread will be available.

Ellington Agricultural Center, home of Tennessee Department of Agriculture, is located south of Nashville, accessible from Franklin Pike at Hogan Road or from Edmondson Pike.  For more information, call the Tennessee Agricultural Museum at (615) 837-5197 or visit www.tnagmuseum.org.
