Tennessee Funeral Establishments Commended for Filing Death Certificates Early
Top 10 Percent of Establishments Receive Certificates of Superior Performance
Nashville, June 14, 2006
The Tennessee Department of Health, Office of Vital Records has awarded Certificates of Superior Performance to the top 10 percent of Tennessee funeral establishments for death certificate timeliness in 2005.
“The death certificate is a critical document for those who have lost a loved one,” said State Registrar Sharon M. Leinbach. “Without it, a myriad of issues such as life insurance, property transfers and closing accounts are simply left undone and, as a result, families are inconvenienced. However, these 10 percent of Tennessee funeral establishments showed their true concern for families by making sure that death certificates were filed quickly and in the hands of the family.”
Forty-five establishments were recognized statewide:
