Tennessee Hospitals Recognized for Filing Birth Certificates on Time
Top 10 Percent of Hospitals Receive Certificates of Superior Performance
Nashville, May 10, 2006
The Tennessee Department of Health, Office of Vital Records has awarded Certificates of Superior Performance to the top 10 percent of Tennessee hospitals for timeliness in filing birth certificates. Tennessee law requires that birth certificates be filed within 10 days. The hospitals recognized not only turned in birth certificates on time, but early at an average filing of 7.5 days.
“In today’s world, parents of newborns need their children’s birth certificates as quickly as possible,” said Sharon M. Leinbach, state registrar. “These hospitals have gone the extra mile to ensure that certificates are completed and on file within only a few days after birth.”
