NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam today appointed M. Wyatt Burk of Shelbyville as Circuit Court Judge for the 17th Judicial District. He replaces Judge Lee Russell, who has retired. The 17th Judicial District includes Bedford, Lincoln, Marshall and Moore counties.

NASHVILLE - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to the indictment and arrest of John Peyton, Jr., for four counts of tax evasion and one count of theft. Revenue special agents arrested Peyton, 57, Thursday at his home. Bond was set at $25,000.

A University of Tennessee, Knoxville report released today shows that Tennessee’s overall uninsured rate increased from the 2016 level of 5.5 percent to 6 percent in 2017. Nonetheless, the reported uninsured rate is still at one of the lowest levels in the past two decades. The report entitled The Impact of TennCare: A Survey of Recipients, 2017, released by UT’s Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research, summarizes findings from a survey conducted between May and July 2017.
