Michael D. Driver
General Counsel
Michael D. Driver was appointed as General Counsel for the Department in 2021. In that role, Mr. Driver serves as chief legal advisor for the Department and is responsible for overseeing legal services to all Department divisions along with a dedicated team of attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff.
Prior to serving as General Counsel, Mr. Driver served in various roles with the State beginning in 2008, including Deputy General Counsel for the Division of Regulatory Boards with the Department and Senior Associate Counsel for the Department of Environment and Conservation. Mr. Driver earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School, a Master of Science in Information Sciences from the University of Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Arts from Murray State University.
