Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.

The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, Regulatory Boards Division, Tennessee Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers approved these rules at a rulemaking hearing during a regularly scheduled meeting conducted on January 13, 2026.  These rules were filed with the Secretary of State on April 2, 2026, and will become effective on July 1, 2026.  These rules have been filed as Rulemaking Hearing Rules and will be promulgated (90) days from the filing date.

The rule increases fees for initial applications, apprenticeship registrations, licensing fees, and renewals for funeral establishments, funeral directors, and embalmers. The rules also increase fees for reinspections, change of location, database updates, removal service applications, document reviews, and reciprocal licenses. This marks the first fee increase from the Tennessee Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers since 2002.
