Change in Ownership

If only the ownership is changing and everything else remains the same (name, mode of operation, etc.), you must send a written statement and legal documents showing the change via email to Alarm.Systems.Contractors@tn.gov.

Change in Mode of Operation

If the corporate structure changes (mode of operation), you will have to reapply, and the Qualifying Agent (“QA”) must also transfer their license at the same time. Once the new license has been issued and the QA is transferred, all Registered Employees must be transferred.

Change in Name

If the corporate structure does not change, but the name does, you must retain the same control number with the Secretary of State. If the control number changes with the name change, you must reapply.

There are currently no provisions for license retirement. A Qualifying Agent may place their license in an inactive status, but they will still need to renew their license. This includes meeting fee and continuing education requirements.
