TDCI Joins Knoxville Council on Aging for Scam Prevention Event June 8

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance’s (TDCI) Division of Consumer Affairs and the Knoxville-Knox County Council on Aging will provide a free opportunity for consumers to learn how to protect their personal information from scam artists this Thursday, June 8, 2017 in Knoxville. 

During the outreach event, TDCI staff will discuss different scams that are affecting older adults in Tennessee and share tips on how to avoid becoming a victim. The event is open to the public and consumers are encouraged to come early to visit information tables with pertinent scam prevention materials.

“The Division of Consumer Affairs is committed to helping Tennesseans avoid scams, schemes, and swindles,” TDCI Consumer Protection Director Cynthia Wiel said. “We’re proud to work with partners like the Knoxville-Knox County Council on Aging to provide consumers with resources to protect their personal information.”
