TDCI to Participate in Fayetteville’s “Don’t Be Fooled” Seminar on April 4th

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance’s (TDCI) Securities Division is joining the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, US Bank of Fayetteville, and the Better Business Bureau of Middle Tennessee for a “Don’t Be Fooled” seminar for seniors at the Lincoln County Museum in Fayetteville on Tuesday, April 4, 2017.

The interactive event, which aims to teach senior citizens how to avoid common scams, will feature informative presentations on a range of pertinent fraud prevention topics. The annual seminar is held each year to coincide with April Fool’s Day.  

“The Tennessee Securities Division is proud to work alongside the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and other partnering agencies on this educational opportunity for seniors,” said TDCI Assistant Commissioner for Securities Frank Borger-Gilligan. “Our goal with this outreach is to provide practical, current information to help Tennesseans evaluate an investment opportunity and avoid becoming a victim of fraud.”

TDCI will present financial protection information to help senior investors avoid popular investment scams. TDCI staff will also be on hand to answer any questions participants may have regarding investment fraud prevention.

What:
Staff from participating agencies will discuss ways seniors can keep their personal information from falling into the hands of scam artists. Educational items will be distributed to attendees to support topics discussed during the presentation.
