TDCI, AARP Partner to Host Memphis Shred Event on August 6

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance’s (TDCI) Division of Consumer Affairs is partnering with AARP Tennessee to promote consumer protection via a free document shredding event on Saturday, August 6 in Memphis.

The outreach offers complimentary document shredding to local residents in advocacy of identity theft prevention. Members of the community can bring personal documents and financial records to be shredded on-site.

“The Division of Consumer Affairs is excited to partner with AARP Tennessee to help residents avoid identity theft,” said TDCI Deputy Commissioner Bill Giannini. “The secure disposal of outdated documents is an important step in keeping your personal information out of the hands of scammers.”

Documents suggested for shredding include outdated credit card statements, utility bills, investment documents, tax forms, loan documents, medical records, insurance documents, employment documents and more. All events are first-come, first-served based on space availability. Limit three boxes per car. Paper documents only.
