Course Descriptors

This class will provide an overview of the revised GIS data standards and walk through examples of correct attribution and how populating the GIS data in certain ways can constitute an error in the downstream MSAG creation and validation processes or prevent your data from processing at all. We will summarize certain modeling specifications as well to provide best practices on geographic placement.

The NENA Center Training Officer (CTO) Program provides you with the proper framework to train your new employees, which leads to better performance and higher retention rates. The course covers proper documentation of performance, evaluation of performance, setting milestones, and developing a plan for trainee success. CTO software with the exclusive NENA Daily Observation Report template is provided by Agency360 Public Safety Software (agency360.com) for all attendees.

This class will review editing pitfalls in the GIS data that are related to MSAG creation/updating and that eventually affect the statewide hosted ALI. Solutions to common problems will be presented and editing techniques will be demonstrated. We will also summarize certain modeling specifications to provide best practices on geographic placement. As the State of Tennessee has chosen to create MSAG from the address points, the primary feature classes under consideration will be the address points and ESN polygons, however we will touch on the road centerlines as time permits.

This course will give new supervisors the skills they need to succeed in their positions. It will give experienced supervisors updated, refreshed skills that will further their careers.

Using a combination of lecture and practical exercises, students will learn the supervisor’s role in HR, tools to get organized, how to effectively make the transition from line-level to supervisor, how to build and lead a team, supervisor-specific communications, conflict resolution, performance evaluations, stress management techniques, and many other skills, and tips for their toolbox.
