NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO), members of Bradley County Fire Rescue, and volunteers from the American Red Cross of Southeast Tennessee will install smoke alarms across Bradley County starting at 8 a.m. (ET) on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019.
The smoke alarm canvas is part of the SFMO’s “Get Alarmed, Tennessee” ongoing program which aims to prevent fire deaths across Tennessee through the installation of smoke alarms and fire prevention education. Canvas participants aim to install over 200 alarms in 200 homes.
Since the “Get Alarmed, Tennessee!” program began in November 2012, over 212,000 smoke alarms have been distributed to fire departments across Tennessee. These smoke alarms are credited with saving over 275 lives.
WHO: The Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office, Bradley County Fire Rescue, and the American Red Cross of Southeast Tennessee.
WHAT: “Get Alarmed, Tennessee” smoke alarm installation event. Volunteers are asked to dress in neat, but comfortable fashion. “Get Alarmed Volunteer” orange emergency vests will be used for identification purposes.
