Tennessee's crisis services continuum is robust, and it is growing!  Read on to learn more about the key parts of state's offerings.

Numbers to Know

The way to connect with a crisis counselor is to call or text 988 and press 0 to connect with a crisis counselor.  This three-digit number can connect you to the crisis services provider who covers your area.  Additionally, the individual crisis providers have their own crisis lines which you may want to retain if you are a frequent user of crisis services.

Mobile Crisis Services

Mobile Crisis Services is a 24/7/365 response team for people who are experiencing a mental health emergency.  Mobile crisis is available statewide in Tennessee for both adults and children and youth.  You can access mobile crisis by calling 988 and pressing 0 or your local provider's crisis line.  Click this link or the map above for the agency that serves your area.

Walk-In Centers

Crisis Walk-In Centers offer face-to-face, 24/7/365 evaluation for those who are experiencing a mental health emergency.  Tennessee currently has nine Walk-In Centers for adults with three more coming online in the near future.  Click this link or the map above to find a Walk-In Center near you.

Crisis Stabilization Units

Crisis Stabilization Units (CSU) offer 24/7/365 intensive, short-term stabilization for someone who is experiencing a mental health emergency and is willing to receive services.  The average length of stay in a CSU is 3 days. The service is free of charge.  Tennessee currently has nine CSUs with three more coming online soon.  Click this link or the map above to find a Crisis Stabilization Unit near you.

Note: Crisis Stabilization Services can only be accessed by referral from Mobile Crisis Services or Crisis Walk-In Services.

Crisis Respite

Crisis Respite Services provide short-term relief for a person experiencing a mental health emergency.  The average length of stay is 48 hours or less.

Note: Crisis Respite Services can only be accessed by referral from Mobile Crisis Services or Crisis Walk-In Services.
