Licensing Requirements for Surplus Lines Agent

Requirements for a Resident Surplus Lines Agent:

1. Applicant must hold a current Insurance Producer license in TN.
2.   Submit application and filing fee to the TN Dept. of Commerce and Insurance electronically at www.NIPR.com.
3. Pay the $120.00 filing fee.
   Note: All Surplus Lines Agent licenses expire on the same date as the producer license.

Requirements for a Nonresident Surplus Lines Agent:

1. Applicant must hold a current nonresident Insurance Producer license in TN and Surplus Lines in the applicant’s resident state.
2. Submit application and filing fee plus any retaliatory fee to the TN Dept. of Commerce and Insurance electronically at www.NIPR.com.
3. Pay the $120.00 filing fee (plus any retaliatory fee).
   Note: All Surplus Lines Agent licenses expire on the same date as the producer license.
