Tennessee Auctioneer Commission

A Public Automobile Auctioneer is an individual who, for a fee, commission, or any other valuable consideration, or with the intention or expectation of receiving a fee, commission, or any other valuable consideration at an auction or sale at auction, offers, negotiates, or attempts to negotiate a listing contract, sale, purchase, or exchange of goods, including motor vehicles.

Requirements

Licensing Requirements

  1. Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  2. Must be currently licensed as a Principal Auctioneer for at least two (2) years.

Education Requirements

Submit proof of successfully completing, in addition to the education required by TCA § 62-19-111(b)(2), fifteen (15) hours of more rigorous classroom or online instruction in automobile auctioneering.

Examination Requirements

None

Application & Fees

Complete the “Upgrade to Public Automobile Auctioneer” application online at core.tn.gov. The fee for an initial application is $275.

Tennessee reciprocates with the following states: Alabama (AL), Arkansas (AR), Florida (FL), Georgia (GA), Illinois (IL), Indiana (IN), Kentucky (KY), Louisiana (LA), Massachusetts (MA), Mississippi (MS), New Hampshire (NH), North Carolina (NC), Ohio (OH), Pennsylvania (PA), South Carolina (SC), Texas (TX), Virginia (VA), West Virginia (WV), and Wisconsin (WI).
