TDCI: Correspondence Regarding Reopening Salons

While Governor Bill Lee signed Executive Order No. 30 (Order) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, he has indicated an intent to reopen our industry on May 6, 2020 with certain guidelines in place.  This order is effective and enforceable at 12:01 a.m., Central Daylight Time, on April 29, 2020 and shall remain in effect until 11:59 p.m., Central Daylight Time, on May 29, 2020.  

On April 30, 2020, the Governor’s Office, working with the Economic Recovery Group (ERG), composed of leaders from the public and private sector, issued that guidance which can be found here: https://www.tn.gov/commerce/regboards/cosmo.html. 

Please note that the six locally run health departments in Davidson, Hamilton, Knox, Madison, Shelby, and Sullivan counties have the authority to issue additional orders or measures related to the containment or management of the spread of COVID-19, which may permit to a greater degree, or restrict to a greater degree, the opening, closure, or operation of businesses, organizations, or venues in those counties.  However, the provisions of this Order shall exclusively govern in the 89 counties that do not have a locally run county health department, and this Order shall preempt any other order issued by a local official or local governmental entity that contravenes or would limit the application of the provisions of this Order.

As stated above, local municipalities may have directives that provide additional permissions or restrictions.  Please contact your local county or city authorities for additional information.  If you believe a shop is in violation of local directives, you would contact those authorities to intervene for the safety of the public.
