Governor Lee’s Executive Order 15 TDCI Summary
In an effort to provide ongoing guidance to stakeholders, the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance (TDCI) is sharing how Governor Lee’s Executive Order No. 15 (EO 15) removes barriers to allow TDCI and its divisions to rapidly respond to Tennesseans during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
DIVISION OF INSURANCE. Directs TDCI’s Division of Insurance and the Tennessee Department of Health to urge health insurance carriers in Tennessee to identify and remove any burdens to responding to COVID-19 and improve access to treatment options and medically necessary screening and testing for the virus. Directs the Department to urge carriers to provide coverage for the delivery of clinically appropriate, medically necessary covered services via telemedicine. Further, Governor Lee’s Executive Order urges carriers to not impose prior authorization requirements on medically necessary treatment related to COVID-19 delivered by in-network providers via telemedicine.
TENNESSEE STATE FIRE MARSHAL’S OFFICE. All plan reviews and building code requirements are suspended necessary to respond to COVID-19; TDCI Commissioner Hodgen Mainda has discretion to reasonably extend the deadlines for compliance.
DIVISION OF REGULATORY BOARDS. The initial issuance and renewal of licenses, permits and certifications issued through the Division of Regulatory Boards and through TDCI’s divisions are NOW suspended in order to give TDCI Commissioner Hodgen Mainda and the boards and commissions discretion to reasonably extend the deadline for obtaining required education, continuing education, and in-service credits necessary to achieve licensure.
SECURITIES DIVISION. Grants TDCI Commissioner Hodgen Mainda discretion to reasonably extend the time periods for completing certain registration application requirements through the Securities Division.
TENNESSEE PEACE OFFICER STANDARDS AND TRAINING/FIREFIGHTING PERSONNEL STANDARDS AND EDUCATION COMMISSION. Completion of basic training and in-service credits are suspended, if necessary, to give the respective commissions discretion to reasonably extend the deadline for meeting such requirements.
