SFMO, Red Cross Join Bolivar Fire Department to Install Free Smoke Alarms March 17

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO), the Bolivar Fire Department, and the American Red Cross of Mid-West Tennessee will install free smoke alarms in homes throughout Bolivar on
Saturday, March 17, 2018.

Working in conjunction with local volunteers, organizers plan to target 200 homes during the one-day canvass. The door-to-door event is part of the SFMO’s “Get Alarmed, Tennessee!” program which aims to prevent fire deaths in Tennessee through the provision of smoke alarms and fire prevention education.

Since the “Get Alarmed” program’s inception in 2012, the SFMO has distributed over
163,000 smoke alarms statewide to 514 partnering organizations and have documented 223 lives saved from an installed "Get Alarmed!" smoke alarm.

Who: The State Fire Marshal’s Office, the American Red Cross of Mid-West Tennessee, and the Bolivar
Department.                                                                  

What: “Get Alarmed, Tennessee” smoke alarm installation event. “Get Alarmed Volunteer”
orange emergency vests will be used for identification purposes.

When: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (CT) Saturday, March 17, 2018.

Where: Volunteers will meet at the Bolivar Fire Department, 210
West Jackson St, Bolivar, TN 38008.
