NASHVILLE – Tennessee Rep. Jimmy Eldridge (R-Jackson) is partnering with the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance’s (TDCI) Division of Consumer Affairs and local law enforcement on Saturday, June 24, 2017 to host the Jackson Community Shred and Drug Take Back Event promoting identity theft prevention and consumer protection. Jackson residents are encouraged to attend for free document shredding and a convenient prescription drug drop-off.

“Identity theft is now one of the fastest-growing crimes in our country; therefore, protecting your personal information is key to ensuring you don’t become a victim,” said Rep. Eldridge. “This community event offers peace of mind for Jackson-area residents by providing them a safe, efficient way to dispose of sensitive documents and outdated prescription drugs. I’d like to thank the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance for providing this valuable service to our community.”

Documents suggested for shredding include outdated credit card statements, utility bills, investment documents, tax forms, loan documents, medical records, insurance documents, employment documents and more.

If disposing of prescription bottles, be sure to mark out any personal information on the label. Educational materials will be available for attendees.
