Newly Certified Law Enforcement Officers Graduate June 24

NASHVILLE – Ninety newly certified officers will graduate at 11 a.m. Friday, June 24 from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA) at 3025 Lebanon Pike in Donelson. Trenton Police Chief William Sanders will deliver the commencement address.

Basic Police School Class 1793’s graduation marks the conclusion of the 10-week Basic Police School course which provides technical and tactical expertise as well as the ethical and professional standards of law enforcement necessary for success. The course began April 3.

“These graduates have chosen a challenging yet rewarding career enabling them to serve and protect Tennessee communities,” said TLETA Director Brian Grisham. “At the conclusion of TLETA training, they be prepared and equipped to excel in law enforcement in Tennessee. I heartily commend the students of Basic Police School Class 1793 for their commitment, dedication, and accomplishments.”

Upon completion of their classwork and graduation, the newly certified officers will join the ranks of thousands of law enforcement officers across Tennessee who studied at TLETA and went on to be commissioned by state and local law-enforcement agencies.

Basic Police School Class 1793’s members will serve the following law-enforcement agencies including police departments (PD), sheriffs’ offices (SO) and state agencies:

Bedford County SO, Bolivar PD, Brentwood PD, Cannon County SO, Cheatham Count SO, Clarksville PD, Clinton PD, Collierville PD, Columbia PD, Cookeville PD, Crockett County SO, Dunlap PD, Dyer County SO, Eagleville PD, Fayette County SO, Franklin PD, Germantown PD, Gibson County SO, Giles County SO, Grundy County SO, Hamilton County SO, Hendersonville PD, Humboldt PD, Jackson PD, Lake County SO, Lawrence County SO, Lawrenceburg PD, Lexington PD, Macon County SO, Madison County SO, Marion County SO, McMinnville PD, Metro Nashville Airport Public Safety, Mt. Juliet PD, Milan PD, Perry County SO, Portland PD, Robertson County SO, Rutherford County SO, Smith County SO, Smyrna PD, Springfield PD, Tipton County SO, TN Bureau of Investigation, Trenton PD, White County SO, White House PD, and Williamson County SO.

TLETA is currently commemorating its 50th anniversary, which culminates later this year in a celebration of the academy and its legacy of serving as Tennessee’s premier law enforcement training facility. A short video about TLETA’s anniversary is available here.

The next Basic Police School class begins July 10, 2016 with graduation set for Sept. 30, 2016.
