Newly Certified Law Enforcement Officers Graduate April 1

NASHVILLE – More than 80 newly certified officers will graduate at 11 a.m. Friday, April 1 from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA) at 3025 Lebanon Pike in Donelson. Moore County Sheriff Mark Logan will deliver the commencement address.

Basic Police School Class 1787’s graduation marks the conclusion of the 10-week Basic Police School course which provides technical and tactical expertise as well as the ethical and professional standards of law enforcement necessary for success. The course began Jan. 10.

“These graduates have chosen a challenging yet rewarding career in which they will protect the communities where we live and work,” said TLETA Director Brian Grisham. “Upon completion of our thorough training, TLETA students will be prepared and equipped to excel in any police department or sheriff’s office in the state. I commend the students of Basic Police School Class 1787 for their commitment, dedication, and accomplishments.”

Upon completion of their classwork and graduation, the newly certified officers will join the ranks of thousands of law enforcement officers across Tennessee who studied at TLETA and went on to be commissioned by state and local law-enforcement agencies. In 2015, over 400 students graduated from TELTA’s Basic Police School and more than 1,900 students completed training both at the Academy and at off-site training.

Basic Police School Class 1787’s members will serve the following law-enforcement agencies including police departments (PD), sheriffs’ offices (SO) and state agencies:

Bedford County SO,  Cannon County SO, Cheatham County SO, Collierville PD, Cookeville PD, Dickson PD, Dyersburg PD, Fayetteville PD, Gallatin PD, Hendersonville PD, Jackson County SO, Jackson PD, Lauderdale County SO, Lawrence County SO, Madison County SO, Marion County SO, Marshall County SO, Metro Nashville Airport Public Safety, Middle TN State University PD, Milan PD, Moore County SO, Murfreesboro PD, Paris PD, Pickett County
SO, Putnam County SO, Rhea County SO, Robertson County SO, Shelbyville PD, Signal Mountain PD, Smyrna PD, Spring Hill PD, Springfield PD, Sumner County SO, TN Bureau of Investigation, TN State Parks, Trezevant PD, Williamson County SO, and Wilson County SO.

The next Basic Police School class begins April 3, 2016 with graduation set for June 24.
