NASHVILLE – Memphis area residents can protect their personal information on Saturday, Oct. 24 by bringing up to five boxes or bags of their private records for free, on-site shredding.

Sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance’s (TDCI) Division of Consumer Affairs, the BBB of the Mid-South, The Commercial Appeal and Shred-it Memphis, the “Secure Your ID Day” event helps families, small businesses and individuals take steps to responsibly protect their personal information like tax information and medical records from possible ID theft.

“As personal identity theft and cyber fraud grow more prevalent and more costly every day, Tennessee residents should take every opportunity they can to protect their personal information,” said TDCI Deputy Commissioner Bill Giannini.
