Reinsurance Intermediary Information
Reinsurance Intermediary
The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance does not issue special licenses to individuals acting in the capacity of reinsurance intermediary.
Tennessee Code Annotated 56-6-803(a) requires any person acting as a reinsurance intermediary to be a licensed producer in Tennessee. Tennessee began issuing Business Entity Licenses effective January 2003. The business entity license is not mandatory, but available if so desired. Individual producer licensing is mandatory.
Accordingly, to comply, all individuals acting as Reinsurance intermediaries in Tennessee must be licensed as Tennessee insurance producers in accordance with Title 56, Chapter 6. Further, all producers are expected to comply with all provisions of the Reinsurance Intermediary Act relating to contracts, record keeping, etc.
Licensing procedures and forms for producer and business entity licensing may be found on the department’s website at www.tn.gov/commerce.
