What is a DCN (Dispute Certification Notice)?
- A DCN tells the court that mediation is over.
- If all problems are solved, it says so.
- If problems remain, it notes them.
- It won't mention things that were not discussed.
What if I disagree with the DCN?
- Email the mediator your changes within five days.
- The mediator will send your changes and the original DCN to the court. You’ll get a copy.
What must I do next?
- File a Hearing Request within 60 days of the DCN.
- Your lawsuit might be dismissed if you don’t file it with the court on time.
Why wasn't a DCN issued?
- When a lawsuit settles, the court gets settlement papers instead of a DCN.
Why did we go to court without a DCN?
- Some issues don’t need a DCN.
