Mississippi River Floodwaters Zone Hunting Closure

Thursday, April 18, 2019 | 03:58pm

JACKSON --- In accordance with Proclamation 16-45, the Mississippi River stage is above 34 feet at the Caruthersville, Mo. gauge which results in the closure of all big game hunting immediately in the Mississippi River Floodwaters Zone.

The zone will remain closed until the Mississippi River state falls 32 feet at the Memphis gauge.  This closure goes into effect Saturday, April 20. The 2-feet buffer will ensure that big game will no longer be isolated on islands, levees, etc., when hunting season resumes.  This closure is effective on both private and public lands within the zone.

The Mississippi River Floodwaters Zone in Tennessee includes areas within Lake, Dyer, Lauderdale, Tipton, and Shelby counties.
